When Details Shape the Story

Before I could begin writing, I had mountains of info to sort through.

I had untangled the web of Who was Who, and Who did What to Whom, so now what to do about everything else.

I told my research assistant, Attila, that I wanted to recreate the DNA of the story, to bring back life in those days. “So you want to know things like which films were playing at the cinema when the trials were on,” he said. YES. THAT EXACTLY.

Once I had all the details, I had to figure out where to put them.

First task after collection: print out the details and collect them into folders, like the one in the photo. It’s the VILLAGE folder.
